Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Shaw homeowners

When does my warranty coverage begin?

Your warranty coverage begins on the date of closing. This date is documented in your closing paperwork and warranty materials.

How do I know if an issue is covered under warranty?

Your Homeowner's Manual includes detailed information about what is and isn't covered under each component of your warranty. If you're unsure, we encourage you to submit a warranty request or contact our warranty department directly. We're happy to review the situation and provide guidance.

How long will it take to address my warranty request?

After submitting a warranty request, you'll typically receive an acknowledgment within 1-2 business days. Our warranty team will then schedule an inspection, usually within 3-5 business days for non-emergency issues. The timeline for repairs will depend on the nature of the issue, availability of materials, and scheduling with our service providers. Emergency issues are addressed much more quickly, often the same day.

What is considered an emergency warranty issue?

Emergency warranty issues include situations that pose an immediate risk to your safety or could cause significant damage to your home if not addressed promptly. Examples include major water leaks, complete HVAC failure during extreme weather, electrical hazards, gas leaks, or sewer backups. For these issues, please call our emergency service line rather than submitting an online request.

Can I make modifications to my home without voiding the warranty?

Minor cosmetic changes typically won't affect your warranty coverage. However, significant modifications, especially those involving structural elements, plumbing, or electrical systems, may impact certain aspects of your warranty. We recommend consulting with our warranty department before making major changes to ensure you understand any potential impacts on your coverage.
